They weren't good when Taft owned em either. Ed Bealle wasn't a good boss; and the newsroom was pretty cliqish when Joyce Reed repl'd Mike McDonald and brought her people from little Springfield.

There's not a lot of security in TV because of ratings pressure and managers bouncing in and out, market to market.

Some anchors do well once they get the tenure of being a local institution. Every metro has at lest one of those.

Larry Moore was such at 9. Not that great compared to others but he was everyone's dad, I guess. I know HE thought he was.

I always presumed something was in studio lights that burned off newsreader humility so many seemed very aloof, perhaps because of the size of their paychecks compared to the real journalists. Gimme a good stable of field reporters anytime. 9 had several as did other stations.
