Whoever ever pretended to be George Wallace apparently has forgotten that right about the time Wallace was gaining national popularity, the Democrats and Republicans traded NAMES.
All the racist democrats, former sons of slave owners became REPUBLICANS.
And all the Republicans who like Lincoln were for freeing the slaves and helping the poor...THEY became Democrats.
So when today's DEMOCRATS, those who help the poor, want low cost abortions because women and girls want em, not to reduce the number of black babies.
Its today's REPUBLICANS, the former Dixiecrats who want fewer black people.
Many of today's REPUBLICAN want to keep confusing people so they can inaccurately claim Lincoln was their guy. Lincoln was a progressive. And NOW, all progressives vote DEMOCRAT.
The swapping platforms movement actually was in place starting after WWII, but the formal switch happened with JFK and when LBJ, a starch Democrat president got the Civil RIGHTS act passed in 1964, even tho he was from Texas. The old line Southern Democrats fled EN MASS to join the Republican party and Nixon played to em.
