IF YOU COULD ONLY SEE THE BEAST YOU'VE MADE OF ME

Hound wasn't nearly as comfortable as he would have been had Ora still been his napping place, but he supposed it wasn't so bad here. Or at least, for a bit. It wasn't long until the quietly snoring stallion was joined unknowingly by another. Despite his large size, Hound was hidden rather well in the thick gently swaying grasses.

All was fine.

All was quiet.

The beast was dormant.

The sobs awoke him from his slumber and eyes of dark chocolate snapped open with a snort. Remains of his tattered ears were pressed against the thick curl of his mane as he lifted his mouth from the dirt. He peered through the grass, a scowl tugging at his lips as he stared at the much younger horse.

The dog rattled the cage violently, teeth snapping and pulling at the chains of his mind. It had been so long since he'd let the beast breathe. So long since he'd let out the hound. The vicious mongrel howled and thrashed against the confines of it's prison begging to be set free.

Hound cleared his throat and the beast receded into the shadows.

For now.

Instead, Hound pulled himself to his feet with a load groan and looked down at Kuba. He flattened his ears and gnashed his teeth in a grimace before pointedly turning around to face away from him and laying back down. Though the action was dismissive, Hound kept an ear cocked in the other's direction but the snarl did not leave his face.

The dog could never really be contained. Not really.
