GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
we could be strangers in the night

YOUR LOVE IS ALWAYS DANGEROUS
and now i'm lost in us

Since Darshan returned to the Prairie, Zevulun had given her space. Half because he felt she needed it and half because he wasn’t sure what might exchange between them. Zevulun did not blame her for Balor’s loss and understood, perhaps better than most knew, exactly why it wasn’t any fault of Darshan’s for what had become of the painted stallion. Years ago he could have had the same thing happen to him after losing Avalon, if not for their young sons who had needed him more than ever.

Still, as he watched her belly swell with child as spring drew closer and winter fell behind them, he found himself somewhat curious who it was to have sired the upcoming foal. Would she disappear again to the Badlands to raise another child beneath Rafe’s watchful eye? If so, Zevulun wouldn’t cause a fuss, not because he didn’t care, but because he knew Rafe would keep her safe and let her go if she wanted just as he’d done before.

But what if it was another stallion? What if it was a passing, fleeting meeting? Would he need to prepare himself for a stallion charging up his shores, demanding to take Darshan away and the child they’d sired? He didn’t think the lean cream mare would purposefully bring trouble here, but the possibility still hung in the air. The less questions he had, the better.

Zevulun moved slowly closer to Darshan, seeing the mare standing off on her own, her posture relaxed in the early spring sun. Suddenly he felt awkward, realizing he was approaching her while she was sleeping, and he almost considered backing away altogether. I’m so, so tired, beloved. Her voice made him stop. It was heavy with sleep and soft with relaxation he wondered if she often felt.

(Sometimes Zevulun still remembered when he’d come across her crying at the Forest border and his heart ached, thinking of what sorrows she must carry to break her heart like so.)

I just need to rest a little longer, and then we… Then we can go wherever you want.

A small smile briefly touched Zevulun’s mouth. “Darshan?” He said her name softly, hoping not to startle her out of her sleep.
