- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

Lucerne was smart enough to know that being alone was a death sentence. He'd washed up on the shores of a strange land, coughing up sea water and drenched from head to toe. Seaweed and salt clung to him like a garnish and during the night he swore he had heard the sound of growling of a wolf pack through the trees. He'd fought enough battles and seen enough death that he knew remaining in the open by himself was a mistake. It had taken some time, introducing himself to the locals and what not, to get any hint on where he could go. He'd heard of the prairie and decided he might as well give it a shot. He had no intention to rebel or cause a ruckus, his leading days were short and terrible, and he was happy to do what he could in other ways. Not much of a fighter that didn't mean he wouldn't do it in a pinch. After all, Lucerne valued rules and upheld them to the letter. He'd been swayed once by the allure of chaos and been cast aside for it.

It would not happen again.

It was unfortunate, he'd decided, that each land was a whole new island and he'd had to swim from the mainland to a smaller strip of land. When he finally pulled himself up on the shore he was exhausted. His barrel heaved with each ragged breath, his golden and white mane clung to the sharp angles of his face. He took a few struggling steps inland, opting to drop his head and rest for a few moments. He shook himself off numbly, nearly falling onto his knees as he did so.

"Not as strong as I remembered," he laughed, bitterly. After resting enough to dry off some and gain his bearings back, Lucerne moved farther into the territory to where the sand met the grasses. It was soft and tickled his barrel and sides, a familiar feeling to some of the tall grasslands of his home.

He does not stray in too far, content to remain on the outskirts for fear of upsetting the herd or the stallion who called it his own. With a toss of his head, Lucerne whinnied to let the others not be startled by his arrival in the prairie of Luthien.
