FIRE CANNOT KILL A DRAGON
The dunes was the best territory in all the lost islands. Rhaenys was sure of it. Not that she had ever left the safety of her home, but she was still sure of it. She spent most of her days chasing lizards and rolling in the sands and plotting imaginary wars and conquering unseen armies. She had observed enough of her mother to begin to pick up on things perhaps she was not quite ready for, however she was far stealthier than anyone seemed to have expected. She could not be everywhere at once, no matter how stealthy she was, however. She had begun mimicking her beloved mother's mannerisms and things she said as best she could. Even as a child she moved with purpose, head high and proud with her lean neck arched. Her silvery hairs were beginning to grow longer, accentuating the soft cur of her neck. The same could be said of her tail that was beginning to tickle the backs of her hocks.

Her coat was dark, lightened by the thin sheen of sweat from the sun's rays, even darker along her spine and face. There was not a speck of white on her coat. Unblemished, even by scars, Rhaenys was slowly becoming a horse. And despite her small stature, she still knew she was destined for greatness. Nothing would stop her from getting everything she wanted in the world.

Nyimara was larger than life. A queen. And Rhaenys was pleased to be her daughter, her blood. And she would remind everyone just what that meant when she was older. Despite her readiness to begin conquering immediately, she was still very much a child. A tan colored lizard was sunning itself on an nearby rock and Rhaenys was watching it from a safe distance. Her small ears were pinned with concentration and her lips twitched slightly to expose her teeth.

A stranger.

A trespasser.

An enemy.

It was as much practice as it was just for fun. Her tail flicked, slapping against the sensitive skin of her flank with an audible snap; one that the lizard surprisingly did not react to. Pale eyes narrowed as she stepped forward, stealthily and with purpose. With surprising speed she leapt, a squeal giving away her position as she landed with both front hooves on the stone. The lizard shot forward, high-tailing it across the sands, his tail leaving a zig zag.

Rhaenys snorted, prancing a few steps and basking in her victory. "I don't want to see you on my lands again," she said, imitating her mother's much deeper adult voice, squeaking still with the hint of youth.
