Desert

~ show me the most damaged parts of your soul,
and I will show you how it shines like gold.

In an instant her pursuer bursts over the top of the sandy dunes and down upon her. Her ears instantly snap against her arching neck, her lips pull back to reveal her teeth and she snakes her head toward him as he passes by. She sought his tender flesh between her blunt teeth.

Watch it! he barks in passing. "You fucking watch it!" she snapped as she lunged at him, this time she does not hold back but unleashes all of the fury that boils beneath her pale skin. Snapping teeth and venomous words were hers. It drives her. It breathes life into her. As she finishes her assault she lunges away from him a few strides and begins to circle the russet stallion - like a puma circles her prey - head snaking toward her knees and her tail snapping across her hindquarters.

She paces a few more steps before she draws to a halt, her bi colored eyes narrowed and her sides heaving. She was no little lamb who would be led to its slaughter. No. She is the hungry, devouring lioness.

"I will take my leave, beast." she growls between tight lips. She had no interest staying here in these desert sands. She had to find answers. Answers that would help bring back her memories, to figure out why everyone insists her name is Calypso... "I have business to attend to... elsewhere." she snaps as she pivots toward the sea once more - toward the hissing surf and the islands that lay beyond.

She takes a step toward the sea when suddenly her vision tunnels and a searing pain rips through her skull. "Ouuu," she moans as the pain intensifies till it buckles her knees in the sands and her vision is rimmed with black. Her heart hammers in panic as she begins loose consciousness and crumples in a pile on the hardened beach sand.
