This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Sorry about bursting your nostalgia bubble LOL. The Rayners is still on The Haymarket but not the one that was on the corner with Broad Street...you entered by going up about 3 or 4 steps and the door was across the corner..yes? It's now along towards the middle of the block, next door to what was the Milk Bar years ago....remember that? The Knowsley Hotel is still on the other corner practically backing onto the Museum. The George Hotel that was opposite Broad Street has been gone for years and has had numerous businesses running from the premises that all appear to have failed.  The magnificent building opposite Kay Gardens that was once the home to Bury Coop is an utter disgrace these days. Kay Gardens are just a public toilet! Virtually every street corner has a begger or street musician come busker, and it's not possible to walk down The Rock these days without being accosted by some supposedly destitute soul seeking help. The Rock since pedestrianisation has just turned into a sewer for the down and outs. The New Rock that opened to great fanfare not so many years ago is a dismal failure with regular closures and it does not attract the ' footfall ' expected. The Art Cinema has been a trendy pub for years but at least they retained the main interior decor and fittings of the former cinema. The other cinemas have all gone too ...the Odeon, the Royal the Scala and others....all gone. The so called Famous Bury Market is living off past glory.....yes it still gets busy but no longer is it the ' magical ' place it used to be...lacks atmosphere and all the characters that ran their stalls. Do you recall the pots and pans man and the crockery man who had ' barkers ' out front? ....always put on a show...they could sell ice cream to the Eskimos! None of that anymore. The indoor market has gone down hill too.....many stall holders who have been there for donkey's years have packed it in.
Bury today is a very sad reflection of a once vibrant and happy town full of character and characters. As Colin stated it is now a complete dump.
