The end of spring was nearing and along with it, her pregnancy. Parvati knew the time was very near so she stays close to the cave’s entrance. She would birth this new child in the very place its last two sisters were born. This, she thinks, is exactly how the life of owning your own territory should be. She was able to safely birth her children in the place of her choosing and in the protection of her herd. Though they may be small she knew they would protect her from harm. Especially the baby’s father.

Darkness engulfs the woods and strengthens the shadows of the trees when the contractions finally start. Parvati slips into the pitch-black cave without the knowledge of exactly what time of night it was. She labors into the early hours of the next day, but her new baby is born in the darkness. Parvati begins cleaning off her new foal while admiring the shade of his coat. She smiles seeing another foal similar in color to herself. He reminds her of Devi when she was born expect she didn’t have the white markings that he had. This foal was much closer to her, but that was too be expected since his father also had loud white markings.

A boy…Parvati noses her new son to his little hooves. The proud smile on her face said everything the herd needed to know about her new child. The Inlet had their first and only son born under her rule. It felt right that this son belonged to Loupgaru, the herd’s newest Guard. Parvati nickers softly to her son as she nears the entrance of the cave just as a soft glow of light begins to peak through the tree line. ”You have many older sisters to protect my son. One day you will be strong like your parents.” She giggles.
