Erkiaga-Zabala join Goikoetxea-Inza in the final
The final of the second edition of the All Star will oppose Thursday, May 4, from 7:15 p.m., Aritz Erkiaga and Jon Zabala to Iñaki Goikoetxea and Txabi Inza. The 100% Spanish pair defeated defending champions Jon Tambourindéguy and Imanol Lopez on Friday night at jai alai in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. Not without harm. After a perfectly mastered first set thanks to a 9-0 start, which allowed them to win without too much difficulty 15-8, Erkiaga-Zabala came across some eye-catching opponents in the second set.
Tambourindéguy-Lopez played better than in the first set and took the lead 6-3; 8-5 at the start of the round but Erkiaga-Zabala were determined to win in two sets and remained neck and neck until the end 14-14. Tambourindéguy-Lopez prevail on the wire 15-14. In the third set, Aritz Erkiaga made the difference at the end to win 5-3. “Aritz has again demonstrated that he is the boss. It is frustrating for me because I have the opportunity to cut in front on an attack that puts me in two walls from the right. I counterattack and I give him the cortada right in the middle. That's how it is, it's sport,” says Jon Tambourindéguy.
In parallel, among women, Arakistain-A.Laugié won their semi-final 15-10; 15-8 against M.Laugié-Lizardi. They will play the final on Thursday May 4, from 6 p.m., against Sorozabal-Lejardi.
