TURNING MEN INTO monsters

No she tells him, and the nasty side of Vadim wants to respond. The darkness that had driven him to take Devi from her home. That had driven Isla into the clutches of the Lagoon and from her freedom. Miriella had been subjected to it the most, as he had taken her from the Commons and then threatened her if she had not returned in the allotted amount of time given for her errant. But the conflicting feeling she had given him holds back that rush of thoughtlessness, and anger. It wouldn’t truly be her he was even angry at. No mare would want to willingly live in the Lagoon. Even if she hadn’t looked at him with distaste for it.

“Isn’t that what your father has done, if you could not make the choice without his fury as repercussion?” Vadim asks instead, referring to her word of enslaved. The young stallion is not afraid of an angry father, or even an angry lover. He had already faced many in his short lifetime. Vadim has not committed such a crime against her as he has done others. Knowing full well that it would probably be a mare that ended his life instead of an angry stallion. “And it’s only in the eye of the beholder, to judge whether the Lagoon is filled with beauties or terrors. So, for one, it may be a lie. For another, it may not.”
