The sunshine mare is receptive to him, even forward, which flusters Evander for a moment. He doesn’t know how to react. He’s never actually spoken to a mare before and been welcomed, so for a moment he only grins stupidly, shell-shocked. He, of course, finds himself handsome, but he’s never heard it said out loud, and it’s a rattling experience. It stokes the embers of his ego, and he puffs out his chest a little bit.
Before he can think of something clever or charming to say, a dark shape slips into the little bubble he has envisioned around himself and the delicate golden mare. His hungry green gaze slides over the muscular umber stallion, and his expression remains unchanged as he transitions from appreciating the beauty of the slender mare to the attractiveness of the lithe stallion. He cocks his head, unoffended, maybe even a little glad to have been saved from the possibility of embarrassing himself in his rattled state.
The black stallion is frustratingly smooth, his tone velvety and liquid, and Evander rolls his shoulders languidly to dispel the feeling. He prefers the company of the mare, but he won’t deny that the stallion is alluring in his own way. It’s difficult to decide if he’s jealous of Zurok’s charm or receptive of it. His viper green eyes follow the other male as he circles, but then they flick back to the delicate mare, focus sharpening on her for a moment.
“The Bay,” he says conversationally. “Is that on Tinuvel? Summer is the perfect time to go.” He flicks his cinnamon-brown tail across his dappled sides, broad head tilting politely. “I’ve never been, myself. I live on Atlantis, but I must say, it’s… sweltering, this time of year.”
