GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
you know the tune so the words dont matter

I would love that, the painted mare softly said, and Castillon’s smile warmed for her. Not that it might’ve taken much to get him to smile at her, given his penchant for grinning at pretty girls, but he truly was touched to see her less panicked than she’d been earlier. This was the sort of act his father had raised him for, to keep the Prairie always open to any who needed its shelter and wouldn’t cause harm. Despite that, this was Castillon’s first time actually being able to offer the amenities to someone who needed them.

A part of him understood a little better why his father was so adamant about the peace the Prairie had to always represent. The more he watched the painted mare and her friend relax among the safety of his home, the happier he was sure to feel.

“Come with me,” he offered, first to the painted mare, then to the other who accompanied her. Then, Castillon walked himself around in a half-circle to point back the way he came, leading the mares over the rolling hills just a short distance away where a wide, slow river flowed gently through. The grass was lush and tall, and as promised, there was an old cottonwood who’s branches stretched out tall and wide, the canopy of its leaves providing significant shade.

“Please, eat and drink as much as you both need, and feel free to rest deeply. I’ll stand guard so you don’t have to worry.” Castillon promised, feeling important as he said it. The young stallion even lifted his chin up a little higher. “No one will be able to take you away from here if you don’t want to go.” He added, knowing that it wasn’t just himself who would be alerted to any dramatics occurring in the Prairie and leap to their aid.
