Meadow

He spoke of gibberish to her, of humans and a circus and of screaming at others for attention. It made absolutely no sense to the girl that had spent her entire life in a haven very far removed from the world of humans and their quirks. She had no concept of what they were, or why he would have come from such a place. The best that she could glean was that the Circus was a place, and that humans were... well, she didn't really know. The leaders maybe? Perhaps they, like the Lagoon and Peak, used a separate name for their herd structure?

He apologized, but still had not answered her question and her gaze narrowed suspiciously at him, flaxen tail ticking behind her like a game of tennis. She continued to wait for a long moment before she huffed a sigh in frustration and tried again. "Alright then, I suppose I shall call you Circus." There is a gleam of playfulness in her eyes as she says it, despite how hard she was trying to pretend that she was annoyed. The stranger was handsome, and while his height was not something she found particularly attractive, it did make him interesting. "So, Circus, why are you randomly calling out in the middle of a lazy summer afternoon?"

She gestured about to the meadow surrounding them, where even the insects seemed (at least to her) to be droning lazily rather than with purpose. Roux hadn't really realized or appreciated the quiet of the Crossing until just this moment, but she wondered if secretly, deep down, that was why she liked to visit here sometimes. Paradise was wonderful for a multitude of reasons, but after spending the majority of her life on the Crossing, Roux had grown used to the slower, quieter pace. There was no such thing as slow or quiet in the jungle, where everything lived in fast forward, even the plants.
