Evrain had been surprised to hear that Ra was leaving. His decision to follow the former Dunes king and his family should not have come as such a shock, yet Evrain was still having trouble accepting the fact that his deputy was gone. Ra had been a part of the Hills herd since Evrain was a newborn on wobbly legs. His quiet but constant presence had been a comfort to the young king, and the Hills felt somewhat lacking in his absence, even months later.

But with Antares gone, and the new king undoubtedly settled into his new position, Evrain knew it would soon be time to pay him a visit. As easy as it would be to fall into complacency, to sequester himself in his little corner of the world with his family, there were duties to be done. Plans to be fulfilled. Dreams to be brought to life. He had not forgotten the ambitions that were shared between himself and Rhaenys, and this was but one small step in seeing those ambitions realized.

Evrain moved away from where he was grazing with the herd beneath the warm spring sun, the azure sky stretching unblemished above them from horizon to horizon. He caught Rhaenys' gaze as he did, a single jerk of his head in the direction of the Dunes border indicating his desire for her to join him. He was not content not wait, though, turning and loping off towards the border of their home, confident his queen would follow.

When at last he reached that invisible line that separated the Hills and the Dunes, he paused, pale eyes dragging across the empty horizon. Seeing no one, Evrain lifted his nose to the wind and let a shrill whinny bubble from his throat - a summons for the Dunes king.
