i dream in phosphorescence

𖤓

It had been another deliriously hot day. Most inhabitants had holed up within the reaches of the different oases. That was where Helios had been during the bulk of the day. He'd patrolled early that morning, but once was never enough. The chestnut stallion had whuffled the short strands of his childrens' cheeks and manes before leaving. The foals lay in a heap together, a mess of gangly legs and velvet fur. His dark eyes took in the colt and filly, hovering on their faces one at a time.

Caesarion was his first-born son; he swelled with pride, remembering the spirit the boy already showed. He could only wonder how the colt would develop as he got older. And little Flying Saucer, the little golden-spotted girl wasn't his really, but Helios felt quite fond of the girl and her mother Hedera Helix. Someone was missing though: his daughter with Starlight. He'd managed to learn at least that much from the girl he'd met near the Badlands. Turning from the ache and the babes, Helios went toward the beach to start his evening rounds.

It was on the way there that the call came to his ears. The Dunes king pinned his ears a moment while he surged forward and over the last hill. The figure stood waiting on the beach. It reminded Helios of how Evrain and Rhaenys had come to the border to the north. His ears rotated forward, then Helios trotted down the hill and beach to meet them. His dark eyes examine the stranger upon approach. A dark red-toned male, this much he could tell by the low light. The russett Arabian came to a halt, cream tail lashing against his hocks. "You called for me?" He eyed the other stallion curiously, but not without apprehension.
