drove it like i stole it open

half agony, half hope

Well. Things had happened faster than she expected, but while she did her best to search her heart for any reticence, she found none. She was content, for perhaps the first time in her life. Even with her firstborn lodging themselves somewhere just under her lungs, she was genuinely, wholeheartedly happy.

She'd found a stallion that spoke to the wildness in her heart, and while much about the sleek black stallion remained a mystery, she knew enough to be content in her choice. He was present and active and watchful. His herd seemed, for the most part, content beneath his rule, and though Corvette had not yet had a chance to spend any significant time with any of them, she suspected that she would fit in just fine. Especially since she knew she was not the only one growing more round as winter descended on the Bay.

Tinuvel winters were harsher than she remembered, especially now that she was carrying extra weight and width around. The deep snow felt less like powdered fun and more like an exhausting workout. The narrow trees she'd once loved to dash around now more like her own personal hell of an obstacle course.

Last night, another snowstorm had refreshed the snowbase by at least six inches and Corvette felt her willpower to keep making new tracks failing. She was not often far from the herd, but while she was still new she had tried to keep to herself on the outskirts, pawing through fresh snow and keeping a wide berth from the others. Better to figure out the hierarchy and dynamics from afar first, without causing too many ripples. Today, however, she couldn't bear it.

Heaving a sigh, the pale mare wound her way inland, following a set of hoofprints toward where she assumed the herd was, only to hesitate and nicker in greeting at the sound of someone ahead. "Hello?" She called out, ears pricked forward. She didn't know anyone by name really yet, but she would be grateful to spend time with anyone at this point.
