BEHIND THOSE ANGEL EYES

lies a devil in disguise
There was no real purpose in Mazikeen's stride as she wandered further inland, no specific destination pictured within her mind. She simply let her hooves take her where they may, momentarily happy to just have the sun on her back and the dunes stretched out before her. It was unlikely that she would go unnoticed for long, and true to her intuition she wandered only for a handful of minutes before a flash of movement among the dunes and the muffled sound of hoofbeats caught her attention. Her easy pace slowed to a gradual halt, dark tail flicking idly against her delicate legs as she eyed the approaching stallion.

Who could this be? Mazikeen wondered, allowing herself a moment to appraise (and perhaps admire, just a little) him as he drew closer - the rich copper of his coat, the elegant arch of his neck, the pale flowing flag of his tail. It looked like desert-bred blood ran hot through his veins, an unsurprising observation given their surroundings. Mazikeen's ears flicked towards the flaxen stallion as he addressed her. Good looking and confident? Color her intrigued.

"Nor did I expect to see such a handsome stallion protecting it." Came her playful reply, amber eyes dancing shamelessly across his face. She could bat her lashes innocently at him in a dramatic show of false naivety, could lie and say it was her first time away from home and tell him oh, I'm sorry, I'm just lost. But she did not want to paint herself as a helpless maiden. The dunes were ripe with opportunity, none of which she would be afforded if she were perceived as just an innocent girl.

So she stepped closer, lips arcing into an easy-going smile as she extended her nose towards him in greeting. He smelled of sand and sweat and testosterone, an especially heady combination given the season. There was no question in her mind that he was the stallion whose scent had greeted her upon the shore, likely having marked his boundaries for interlopers such as herself. "Forgive me for intruding, won't you? I came from Tinuvel looking for warmer climates, and this happened to be where I landed." And it was where she intended to stay, but there would be time soon enough to breach that topic, she was sure. "Would you mind showing me to the nearest watering hole? The swim left me parched." And it would give her an excuse to spend more time with this mystery man, though she wasn't so wanton as to say that out loud.
