Rules

• The Vulcan Peak is where homeless mares come to live as a sisterhood. Stallions may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Warriors keep mainly to fighting, Thinkers keep mainly to raiding, and Politicians may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Codebreaker or Prime Minister for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Prime Minister maintains order within the Peak and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Peak works on the Rules page.

Ararat

The bay dun female was grazing, her dark lips tearing at the tender grass shoots. She enjoyed this particular area: the often rocky foothills of the mountain for which the Peak was named. Ararat enjoyed the scenery, but she also enjoyed watching her young daughter play and charge along the slopes.

The golden-hued mare had not expected falling pregnant last fall after the single night with Nahawi, but it had not caused her any distress. While it had not been her intention, Ararat was pleased to have a child of her own. Motherhood was a new challenge that she accepted wholely, as she had with everything she'd faced in her life so far.

As the weeks passed and Asenath grew, she considered Nahawi's role in all this. The female had not gone looking for him after realizing she was carrying their child. There had been no real clue in her memory of where he lived. All their interactions had been so surface level or philosophical even as they talked on long walks through the Crossing. There hadn't really been an obvious deeper level, not until that night.

Lifting her head, Ararat stopped mid-chew. There was Asenath clearing the corner of a rocky slope ahead and bounding out of sight. She could still hear the tawny girl laughing out of sight. The Marwari mutt was immediately on the move. She bolted after the filly, hooves clattering once they reached rock. Ararat hadn't taken the filly down that particular path since she hadn't explored it fully herself. There was no telling if there was any steep drops or caves. Fear laced the edge of her voice.

"Nat! Nat, stop!"
