Remember what that volunteer board had a problem with...your INSISTENCE that that shoestring public radio station install an ELEVATOR for your handicapped son to get up the stairs.
THAT was an exccessive demand far beyond what accomodations parents chould expect. Its too bad your kid couldn't climb stairs but you got yourself kicked OFF that board. Guess you'd insist all apartment buildings here and in big cities like NY have elevators installed for people who can't walk UP. What bout the blind who can't see? The old who can't get around or run marathons? What was your beef with Prairie Village officials? Bob Pryzby, wasn't it you complained to?
I think you take 'special ed parent' to its level of absurdity Jim. And after all these years, you still have that hard on that just never went down on its own! Yes I remember thats when you started on me...because I said your demands on society simply went too far.
I know a little about that...I'd done a lot of reporting work dealing with instant parents who don't care HOW MUCH it would cost TAXPAYERS....ANY AMOUNT to spend to make every handicapped kid normal!
What would you do if your kid had been Mentally Retarded or on the Spectrum which now has 1 in 24 children needing special care, many of them for the rest of their lives.
I assume your GIVING BACK to your community is helping handicapped people lead the best lives they can, with help?
