If they give a fair and reasonable separation package, what difference does it make? In this corporate urban world changes happen and they are unavoidable. Just be glad it happened now and not in mid November when people are financially overextending themselves as our culture usually does.
I see Scripps news on my antenna lineup and it reminds me of the sme thing happening to my colleagvues years ago during another news effort that ended abruptly affecting local news operations called SNC (Satellite News Channel) It didn't last long but our local news operation doubled in size and when it was shut down, went back to its original size. I was lucky to hce stayed working because only half of my work was affected.
But actually the whole news industry took a major hit in subsequent years when internet and cable sucked most of the ad business away from local affiliates. Broadcast News has never recovered. Like many industries, it had grown fat and workers got comfortable in the 1970s-80s.
You still working? You'll be better off if you and your family plan for that eventuality for yourselves. It's just part of working for corporate America and not getting too comfortable yourself. That's best done by keeping your skillset broad and fluid. Bl glad you don't work in hurricane alley and hope Trump doesn't win because Republicans are always trying to put the nation on an economic diet. The current one's called Project 2025. Replies:
