GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass

Despite holding his tongue before, Lir couldn't help but smile a little at the humor in her words, strained though the expression may have been. "I always want to know about your travels, Vern," he said gently, compensating for any perceived slight. "You know that."

He let the words hang in the still air for a few moments. The stallion's mind warred between wanting to tell her everything or letting her fill the silence. Lir had felt so isolated these days, so wretched; it was too hard to try and talk to his parents. He didn't imagine they would really listen to how he felt about everything. No - Lir suspected that Daire and Zevulun would only try to soothe and placate him instead, assure him that it wasn't his fault Vervain was gone.

Vernonia shifted, the smallest of movements. It meant nothing that he could more distinctly feel the heat of her skin nearer to his. After years together romping in the Prairie, Lir shouldn't have been so aware of where she was in the privacy of the willow. He shouldn't have been drawn in by the concern so obvious in her golden eyes.. but he was. "As nice as it would be to have someone to talk to," he admitted, subconsciously leaning toward her, "you shouldn't have to carry my burdens."
