Lavender
soft spoken in the dead of night
Time had a way of blurring in the Lagoon, one day seeping sluggishly into the next, the way the water moved so slow in places as to become stagnant. Lavender had learned quickly that the mud of the marshland territory was the only thing that helped keep the mosquitos away in the warm season, and thus she bathed in it, becoming a creature of the Lagoon, even if beneath the muck she remained a mare, small, delicate and pure of heart.

For weeks, months, she and Ursa had stuck close to one another, and the bachelor stallions must have been content with them merely lingering, for they largely were left to their own devices. That is, until a storm a few days ago had rolled in and spooked Lavender, and she had, in her blinding panic, fled through a section of the Lagoon too dense with tangling vines for Ursa to follow.

And she’d been trekking back and forth through the Lagoon since, seeking for her friend and guardian.

Found herself all the way at the northernmost reaches of the Lagoon and paused there, throwing a furtive glance over her shoulder, before trailing along the boundary line, unhurriedly, the anxiety that had her muscles tightening stemming from concern for the absence of the mare at her side more-so than the wrath of the men of the Lagoon. But in time, she strayed from the border, desperately searching for any trace of familiar scent.

Picking her way, slow and steady rather than bolting with the intent to put distance between herself and Lagoon, Lavender called out into mist-veiled commons, upon hearing someone approaching, having gotten herself a little turned around. "Ursa, is that you?" Her ears trembled in uncertainty - a little bit of hope warring against a little bit of fear.

She’d have to wait ‘til the sun rose higher and the mist dissipated before she moved on. Last thing Lavender wanted was to get herself even more lost.

[[Please note this isn't an escape attempt, and Lavender isn't claimable,
my muse just led to her wandering into the Commons, so I went with it <3]]
