C-141 STARLIFTER INCIDENT ....
IP: 58.104.163.87

I was a Framie at the time of 1977 when a C-141 took off from Richmond on runway 28. Just upwind over Richmond No 3 engine blew up taking out No 4 causing a chain of events etched in ones memory. I remember observing part of the takeoff run but the events that followed only became clearer later on. I remember post the event we all had to go and do an emu of the area of richmond and surrounds picking stuff up and recording where it was found. This was taken back to a vacant level up stairs in hangar 523 and placed on a chalked out street map of Richmond. Not long after a mobile USAF repair team came and setup shop in the adjacent hanger to make the aircraft flyable. All engines were replaced along with a myriad of skin repairs which we assisted with in some manner. Does anybody else recall this event and how we contributed to the recovery? Happy New Year

C-141 Heaven
