The wariness in her expression as she takes notice of his presence is… interesting. She reminds him of the graceful gazelle that roam the desert island in small family units. Her dark eyes are guarded as she gazes across the expanse of space that separates them. Her demeanor does not soften at the smile upon his ashen lips, instead, like the cautious herla, she takes a subtle step backward, prepared to flee if he were to do anything that she interpreted as a threat.
Fluted ears twitch atop his skull as she answers in a barely audible voice. A simple answer that caused his own blue-green gaze to cloud in confusion. ’Yes..’ Yes? Yes what? Yes she was some stray member of father’s herd or yes she wasn’t from the desert? ’And no…’ she murmurs, as if recognizing the confusion in his multifaceted gaze. He purses his whiskered lips together firmly, the smile on his lips twitching slightly as he offers her a rumbling chuckle. ”Now that is sooo much clearer isn’t it?” he quips with a rather matter-of-fact tone, doing his best to hide away the curiosity at her vague explanation. He would get to the bottom of it, father deserted that much from him. He was his heir after all, the diligent son determined to prove his worth as crowned princeling. He senses the change in her, the flexing of her muscles beneath the patchwork, buckskin coat. His azure gaze drifts across her feminine figure, for once feeling a sense of appreciation for the mixture of delicate and strong curves and contours of her frame. Her weight shifts backward and he leans a step forward, mentally preparing himself for the exhilaration of the chase when she seems to register his next question. Again she becomes an enigma to him, her dark gaze clouded as her brows furrow as though she had trouble recalling. Her name? It was a simple question was it not? Hell, Mother yelled it often enough in his younger colthood that the boy doubted anyone on the islands and beyond who had not heard of it yet. He had always been an…. Energetic and inquisitive character to say the least...’Faye..’ The name breaks the silence that built up between them, drawing the boy from his own thoughts and back to the pretty face before him. ’My name is Faye.’ she says, as if confirming the name within her own mind. ‘Faye…’ he repeats within the confines of his mind, allows his inner voice to taste and test the syllable for its potency. The flavor was quite delicious and he decided it was very fitting for the gazelle-like girl with her dark hair and auburn eyes.
The pale-colored boy dips his proud head now, his sleek neck arching gracefully as a boyish grin slips into place on his lips. ”Nice to meet you Faye….” he begins, pausing to give his head a quick shake to rid his visionfield of the annoying cream forelock that seemed forever determined to veil his gaze of the pretty face. ”My name is Cahyr.” he finishes, inhaling a deep breath and squaring his shoulders to make himself seem a less lanky boy and more of a strong, tough alpha male.
But her sudden, strange appearance still left him with questions, questions that he is sure his father would want to know as well when the great Desert King found out about his son’s new companion. ”Where is your family Faye? Are you here alone?” By the gods he hoped so, that would mean he might be able to convince her to stay. She seemed a lot more accepting of his company than Goldenrod was. But at the same time, why would she be left behind? Surely there were others out there searching for her. Had she lost her way? A flash of pity dances across his face before he manages to replace it again with a more forced smile. Something told him she would not appreciate pity. Pitiful creatures did not survive in the desert much less navigate the harsh terrain alone. ”I will help you if you want to find them. No one will bother you here with me around.” He promises. It is a promise he is not exactly in a position to keep but that does not stop him from making the promise anyway. If nothing else, Cahyr is true to his word. Faye would stay safe with him.
