It had been some time since Nox had last come to the Commons. Nicodemus was kind enough to give him the southern tundra of the Inlet, and yet it had only been Nox so far. It was beautiful, once he got past the cold. Which had been difficult for him. He was lean and tall, ethereally beautiful, and the coat that had attempted to grow in the winter months was rather thin. It had fallen out for the "warmer" months on Tinuvel, and Nox was back to looking like a gleaming night sky. Birdcatcher spots were dotted across his dark chocolate pelt.
The golden mare was hard to miss. She was sunshine and gold, where nox was night sky, and it drew him to her immediately. He could see her swimming toward the shore and he trotted onto the beach to greet her. Or at least that was the plan but he chickened out at the last moment. He'd grown some confidence since the last time he was here, but a leopard could not change his spots...at least not overnight.
She collapsed on the shore, laughing, and Nox finally walked out, whickering as not to startle her. The sun gleamed off his shining coat, the salt from his own recent swim sparkling in his tail like crystals. "Don't say you wish you were a fish, don't say you wish you were a fish," he thought, even though it seemed apt for their meeting, but he was not going to make that mistake twice.
"Heya," he said with a lopsided grin, alright maybe that was too casual. He cleared his throat, "I mean hello," she smelled different than any other horses he'd met, but he was far from an expert really. "Are you new?" He didn't want to assume, mostly because he didn't want to make an ass of himself, but part of him hoped she was because maybe he had a chance to impress her before she realized he wasn't as cool as he looked.
