It is better to stand and fight.
If you run, you will only die tired.
Promise's soft voice filled the space, identifying the stallion Sigurdr had just encountered as Lucifer, a subordinate to a lead stallion named Nubis. Neither name meant anything to him, but considering Hymn's choice of residence, he figured it was time he changed that. His smile broadened as she continued. He smiled, his expression widening as Promise then introduced Hymn. Sigurdr offered a friendly nod. "Yes indeed, your mother and I go way back."
Her next words threw Sigurdr for a loop, causing him to momentarily lose his composure. He cleared his throat, forcing himself to speak. He had not expected her to introduce him. "Hi, Promise I've been hoping to meet you." He'd envisioned this moment since he set out to find Hymn, always hoping he'd be introduced to Promise. "Are you enjoying Paradise?" he continued, tilting his head gently, his focus on Promise, "I grew up on Atlantis and know all the best spots for birdwatching and where the tastiest treats hide."
He'd spent a lifetime exploring the island, trekking through vibrant jungles, scaling to panoramic vistas, and swimming in the clear waters that kissed the shores. He inhaled deeply, meeting Hymn's gaze. "Perhaps I could show you?" A nervous flutter stirred within him, a desperate hope clinging to his offer for just a little time in their company.
He knew he was pushing his luck, aware that Nubis could be alerted to his presence at any moment. But until then, he would cherish every second with his family.
