To be more than a conqueror Posted on May 13, 2025 at 02:05:32 PM by Nicodemus
It was late, but he kept a close eye on Raini. It wasn't just because he had just gotten her back home safely in Winter, but because he knew foaling was near. She had every sign. Being the only one of his mare's to give birth made it easy to keep his eyes on her considering he didn't have to shift between multiple herd members. Of course his sister was pregnant, but she was more seasoned at this than he was so he didn't worry. Parvati had also went on a little journey with Sigmund to visit Sig's father. She wouldn't have left knowing it was time to birth so Nico would just wait for their return.
Sigmund, though, worried him. His older brother has been strange ever since the dissapearence of his mate and child. He couldn't say he didn't understand it, but he wished the stallion would take better care of himself. He worries his brother wouldn't be able to make the journey home in his weakened state. But there was no stopping him. He left in secret, but thankfully Parvati had kept a close eye. Not close enough on Zavi who was mysteriously pregnant and not giving the father up. Nico felt soon she would disappear probably with this mystery stallion.
Devi would be so mad at him. Before he knew it, Nico had drifted to sleep in his worry. His kind raced through many different scenarios with his eyelids rapidly twitching from the unconscious eye movement. It was the roll of thunder that stirs him awake. It was dark, his multi colored pelt damp with the rain, but his eyes search for Raini. Noticing she was now gone panic sets in his belly as he jolts forward. He calls put as his head swivels around until finally the possibly of their baby being born dawns on him.
Nico tries his best to track her scent, but the rain has washed most of it away. He thinks maybe this will at least keep the smell of birth from the nose of the wolves. They probably had their own pups to feed this spring. With worry still etched on his face he continues until finslly her scent grows strong. There was a mixture of blood so his pace quickens until he finally sees them. Raini whirls around with protective mother instincts and demands to know who was approaching.
"Raini?" He questions as he pace slows to a stop. He always knew how protective she was of Tino so this display about their own children wasn't a surprise. "Its me. Is the baby okay? Are you okay?" He asks worridly, but doesn't dare to come closer without her permission. He could only see a glimpse of the foal on the ground behind her. Replies:
