’You’re from the Peak, right?’
The graveled tones are the first inclination Solas has that he is no longer alone.
Twin sonars pitch forward amid the blackened ends of his obsidian forelock as the youth lifts his small head to peer curiously at the stranger. Recognition flashes in his pale gaze as he takes in the dark splashed stallion. He had seen him from time to time among the other bachelor stallions of the Lagoon… but he had never been acknowledged before. That tended to happen to the other foals around here too. Hard to be noticed with the likes of Khyber and Garmr commanding all the attention. Not that he ever minded. He was proud of his father… even if he did miss his mother and Ryvar from time to time.
The mention of the Peak from this stallion brought forward the familiar sting of their absence. Chisled head cocks slightly as he swallows the mouthful of fescue in his jaws. ”Yeah….” he mumbles, swallowing the remnants of grass before studying his newfound companion. ”You from there too or what?” he asks.
This close to the stranger gives Solas an opportunity to really study him. Although there were quite a few painted stallions among the bachelors of the Lagoon, this one… he looked remarkably similar in looks and stature to Khyber. Could it be….
”You my uncle or somethin?” he asks, taking a brave step forward into the small space that separated them. Pale blue eyes narrow suspiciously as the young colt-stallion studies the whiskered features of his companion. Khyber was still ultimately a mystery to him in that Solas didn’t know much beyond the fact that he was once again the Maurader of the Lagoon and his self-proclaimed father. Relatives? Hell, aside from his sister, he didn’t even know if he had any. Khar’pern had never been much of an open book when it came to idle chitchat, and Khyber seemed so busy since their arrival here that Solas felt almost guilty to disturb any moment of peace his sire managed to snag. It would be nice to discover he had more relatives out there besides his immediate family… especially with Ryvar and Khar’pern notably absent in his life at the moment.
