Battling with family Posted on July 25, 2025 at 09:27:07 PM by Carrhae
The young mare have never watched a horse die before, but she had stayed with the stallion until his body was still, his life ebbed out, gone. He’d asked one thing of her, to pass on a message and she had vowed, even just to herself that she would carry out his last wish.
So with a rough idea where the inlet was she had taken to the sea towards Tinuvel. Dragging her frame from the surf she cursed under her breath, it was bloody freezing here compared to the heat of Salem, she tilted her head at the sight of snow on the ground. Clearly someone had forgotten to tell the island what season it was. Shaking the water from her coat several times she shivered in the cool air, hoping to warm up quickly.
Dark eyes scanned the beach in one direction and then the next. How am I suppose to find a horse I don’t know and with no description she grumbles to herself. She guessed the only way was to walk in a direction and hope to find someone.
She hadn’t been walking all that long when she thought she saw a foal in the distance, a foal would mean a mother and as long as she didn’t get to close to said foal hopefully its mother wouldn’t straight up attack her. She quickened her steps but stayed at a brisk walk, not wanting to tempt fate.
Moving into a small clearing her eyes tracked the foal before going to the mother, it looked like it was just the two of them here. With the mares back to her she tried to heavy her steps so she would be heard. Excuse me, I was hoping you could help me she said, loud enough that the mare would hear her as she continued making a large circle so she could see the mare face on I’m looking for Pa… she trailed off, her eyes widening. What was her dad doing here? I guess that explained why he hadn’t heard her call back in the badlands.
Ah, shit she swore under her breath, because there was no way he wouldn’t have seen her. Hi.. dad she said on a sigh before steeling herself for his reaction, lifting her head a little higher as she waited for what she expected would be a over reaction. She wasn’t a foal any more and she would refuse to be treated as such, starting now!
