This union, run by people who can barely send an email or open a PDF, is supposed to be leading our negotiations. They are a perfect reflection of our command staff, stupid, lazy, and corrupt. We need smart, forward-thinking leadership in both the union and the department. The job is changing and we have to change with it. Get ready to step up or get left behind. Too many firefighters are coasting and refusing to adapt. If you cannot handle the basic tasks you are asked to do, you are part of the problem. Firefighters cannot be bothered to check their SCBA or write patient care reports when most of what we do is EMS, yet they still refuse. Medics are just as bad, lazy, abusive, and indifferent. We are going to end up screwing ourselves worse than anyone else ever could, and we will deserve it.
