Shoot the arrow straight Posted on September 30, 2025 at 09:36:59 AM by Assassin
Assassin was racking his brains, trying to think of any way that might make it easier for the colt to trust him, he knew his sheer size could be intimidating but he could do nothing to change that. Or could he? He thought back to a time he’d seen another try to calm a terrified foal, just maybe.
Glancing around the area intently and not finding any threat he buckled his legs as he guided his bulk down to the floor, hoping it might give the youngster a bit more confidence to trust him if he wasn’t towering over him. He’d kept at the same distance, making it so the colt would have to approach him if he so wanted to, hoping by giving him some control over the situation it might also help his confidence.
My name in Assassin. I wish we were meeting under better circumstances Luca. Mothers are extraordinary creatures that will sacrifice all for their young. I do know if she did survive she’d not rest until she found you, so you bear no guilt for leaving the beach if that is your concern he offered, his eyes sad knowing that this foals mother probably hadn’t resurfaced.
I wish I could I tell you what the right thing to do is but that choice must be yours, but I’ll assist you in any way I can he offered. Just then a thought struck him, an idea, one that might be dangerous for him knowing what he’d heard but he’d risk it should the colt find the idea favourable.
I could take you to the peak if you wished. It’s a home for mares who don’t want to live in a traditional herd, many build a life there and have their foals born safe within the peak. I know you’d be safe there and maybe one of the mares would also feed you he suggested, knowing this may be the little ones best chance.
Assassin waited, allowing Luca to think it through and make his decision.
