The nearest such parallel world is 2 standard CMB deviations over in this particular multiverse. There, a Jai-Alai video clip went mega-viral when a player got clocked from behind by a ball and went into a coma.
A popular internet influencer, one "Bad Ju-Ju Momma" started a campaign to fund the player's medical bills and many famous and not so famous sports-stars and actors joined in. Each sports-star and celebrity vied to outdo the rest as being the biggest supporter, as well as claiming to be the most OG-Fan of the sport. A "lit banger" of a Rap battle between Butt-Master-Flash and Wack MC ensued. Consensus agreed that it ended in a tie.
The "Save El Barba" movement brought a lot of attention to the sport, especially when the player in question finally woke up from his coma 3 months later. From there, interest snowballed and the sport went from ESPN 3 to ESPN 2. It even got its own Super Bowl ad, paid for by TUMS Antacid.
It became hip for younger people to support Jai-Alai as an alternative to the more popular and boring sports such as baseball, and the increase in betting revenue allowed for expansion to Las Vegas. A TV deal with NBC was in the works. Unfortunately, all of this came to a clattering and clunking halt, due to the Bio-Genetic Wars of 2053, which ended the human species. On the bright side, it also ended the ongoing Holocene extinction event and the food-chain, forests, oceans and atmosphere recovered after a few centuries. Replies:
