The moment mother disappeared over the horizon, Natyre put her plan into motion.

It’s not like she hated the desert. Hell, it’s not even like she despised her mother. In fact, she loved the silver-haired queen. However, the dismissive tone with which Nyimara informed her that Asmodeus had disappeared was what really rubbed her fur the wrong direction.

Although she did not have the same relationship with the chimera stallion that Cahyr had, Natyre had relished the moment when she finally met him. The memory of his solid shoulder and gentle green eyes managed to stick with her long after he left to return to Atlantis. Asmoedus had been kind and affectionate, a far cry from the monster mother tried to make him out to be. Why he was suddenly gone when he promised to always be there for her (or just an island or two away, considering the tumultuous relationship he and mother had) was simply beyond her understanding.

She was determined to find out the truth.

Asmodeus told her that he had a territory in Atlantis and that initially was her destination. However, for a young mare who had no experience with the world beyond Salem’s shores, that proved to be a more difficult task than she first imagined. Despite the calm waters surrounding Salem, the ocean current quickly became more chaotic. White-capped waves threatened to swallow her slight frame, and the current pulled greedily at her lithe legs, almost desperate to pull her beneath their depths. More than once, fear threatened to overwhelm her sanity, and leave her screaming desperately for mother until finally the ocean took her below.

Lucky for her, commonsense overpowered panic. The sight of nearby land beckoned to her, and the promise of solid ground beneath her hooves is soon realized.

Sputtering and thoroughly drenched, Natyre almost drags herself from the ocean’s grasp, desperate to put the ocean behind her. The cold wind zaps at the strength in her veins, and the girl nearly falls into the sand in search of warmth. The sun-warmed sands make her drowsy, and it isn't long before sleep overtakes her. When she does awaken, the sun has long since passed its zenith in the sky.

A groan escapes her ashen lips as Natyre pulls herself up onto all fours and gives her sand-covered coat a quick shake. ”I am going to be in soooooo much trouble when I get back….. If I get back.” she murmurs, reluctantly gazing back at the ocean once more. Even though she knows she should probably head back now, she cannot quite force herself to face the ocean’s wrath. At least not yet anyway. She still had time to explore and hopefully find someone who might know the chimera beast or at the very least, what direction Atlantis is.

With a renewed since of purpose, Natyre sets out, ducking beneath a few overhanging branches blocking her path. The sights and sounds of this island is foreign to her inexperienced mind, and the silver-haired mare relishes the trail she cuts through the snow-dusted forest. Here and there, she pauses, sampling the yellowed grasses or sniffing at strange prints left behind by even stranger-smelling animals. The two-year-old is so caught up in her exploration that she almost forgets the task she set for herself…. That is, until the sound of nearby horses catches her attention.

Small ears pitch forward amid the silvery tresses of her mane. Paper-thin nostrils flare as Natyre sifts through the unfamiliar scents to fixate on the familiar equine odor. Without putting too much thought into it, Natyre rushes forward on hurried legs.”Wait… wait! Please wait for me. Can you help?” she nickers, rushing from the undergrowth and onto the open meadow. Green-blue eyes are bright as she blinks away the strain of the bright sunlight and lets her eyes settle on the scene before her, searching for the owner of the voices she’d heard.
