Curse studied Ashitaka reactions, her ears flicking back at seeing the pity in his eyes seconds before she turned her head away. She knew her upbringing wasn’t a pleasant one with a loving family, she had come to turns with it.. mostly. Her short temper, her being more comfortable with touch during a fight than any other times, probably her aversion to foals as well, all came as a result of her growing up.
It made her reckless, guarded and difficult to get close to, but some how this stallion had managed to slip under her armour, because even now she didn’t want to walk away. Something she had done with the forest lead when her… less that normal tactics of helping had not worked very well.
Glancing back at Ashitaka she shook her head no. We grew up with very different backgrounds. Things like giving or even receiving things like that were forbidden, unless you wanted to get beat up of course she cringed internally at her attempt of humour where there wasn’t really any. She debated not saying much more, but something made her want to continue I was taught from a young age that anything like that makes you look weak, and weakness wasn’t tolerated her voice was emotionless as she spoke, just the thought of her younger self and everything that had happened made her want to shut that crap down, be unfeeling. However she had grown over the last few years, learnt a lot about herself and what was and wasn’t normal.
Closing her eyes she slowed her breathing down to almost nothing, a trick she had learnt years ago as a way of boxing off the overwhelming emotions that wanted to escape her, it never went well when that happened though. She listened, not wanting to see any more pity in Ashitaka’s eyes, hence why her own were closed.
She didn’t know what to say so she kept quiet, waiting to see his reaction to the snippets she had just exposed for him to learn.
