My boss is mysteriously on leave, I'm really worried about him. Posted on January 28, 2026 at 09:14:37 PM by jjwalker
Nobody has any information, no vague timeline for his return
Something like this happened when I first started and people were acting like he might not even come back. Then one day, maybe a week later, he was back, no explanation, and everything went back to normal.
Not that he owes an explanation. I know that better than anyone. I'm just worried as fuck. When discussing my health a few months ago, he casually said something like, "you'll see that I'm going to have to miss more time, sometimes with no notice".
It may even have been "more AND MORE time", which obviously would be a lot more ominous, but I don't remember.
He's still married and living with his wife and three young kids, and there haven't been any signs there. He holds his cards close on his personal life but he does talk about his family a lot.
Medical, cancer? I'm not going to speculate in the office, and I've shut down the gossipping when I've heard it. He deserves his privacy, of course.
I just reached out and told him we were all thinking of him, that we would keep the ship upright in his absence, and best wishes to him and his family. We'll see. Replies:
