Jim weren't you just chastizing me for playing "know it all" in a condescending manner? Perhaps declaring "Wrong Again" you might more humbly explain your opinion of the error of my views about Boomer music?
Dunno your radio experience, but I was a Music director at KFH, and a jock for two years in 1969 with American Forces Radio overseas and we had a HUGE collection of music going back decades. I also had and used Lillian Roxin's Rock Encyclopedia as a bible on my requestline show to my listeners back when we could be who we wanted to be on the radio. Did dyou do performing work and not just produce and sell radio spots?
BTW, your alleged friend said he worked with you at B95...wasn't that were Tracy Jo Cassidy worked in the 70s? She did news at KLEO and I hired her from Garden City....she left news for air work and I heard her a few times, she really found success down there in doodah. And did other things as well. Aint it amazing how much talent came out of that dinky little city on the river?
I always felt Wichita was on par with OKY and much more creative than Kansas City even to KC was a very historic place in Kansas history. Radio was very good, as we both remember. And TV was well staffed, photogs were artists and we won awards for our work, more so than KC ever did. Newswise, it was a great market, small enough to cover journalistally KC was big but with 2 state jurisdictions and a couple dozen cities, it was impossible to cover anyplace WELL other than KCMO and the KCSD because the audience was so divided up. Rarely did the media even come to Kansas jurisdictions. Do you concur? Replies:
