I needed to lose you Posted on February 6, 2026 at 06:15:14 PM by Vaat
She walked further inland and grazed for a few hours. She was currently feeling sad and alone. She felt like everyone turned against her. Vaat stopped grazing when she heard some weird noises not too far away. "Help! It hurts!" A female voice called out. Vaat looked around in confusion. What was hurting, and who exactly needed help? She could pick up the stranger's scent and decided to follow it. Then the stranger let out a loud whine, as if in pain. Vaat grew even more worried and hurried to the unknown mare. When she reached the mare, she saw a black horse lying in the grass. Vaat became confused. What exactly is going on? "Are you OK, miss?" Vaat asked. "NO! They are having trouble coming out!" The black mare yelled. "Who?" asked the dumbfounded Vaat. "Are you serious!? Where have you been!? My foal is coming!" The mare yelled.
Vaat felt a wave of embarrassment hit her. She was possibly never going to get pregnant; she didn't know what giving birth looked like. "Sorry..I hadn't gotten pregnant before." Vaat said sheepishly, lowering her head slightly. Vaat listened to the mare whining and grunting while she waited for a foal to pop out. A few minutes later, something wet and slithery came out of the mare. Vaat felt a little nauseous and took a few steps back. Is that what newborn foals looked like? She didn't know. She always did her best to stay away from pregnant mares. The black mare rose and began cleaning her newborn foal. The foal was a cute thing, a black tobiano foal. The foal was squirming and struggling to get up, but nope. Failed several times.
Vaat thought this was interesting; she wished Injaern were here to see this. The black got up and continued licking her foal. Is this what mothers do? Do they clean the nasty stuff off? "Ma..ma.." The little foal said. "Yes, dear. I'm right here." The black mare said. The foal let out a squeal and started to get up again. After a few more fails, the foal finally did it. "Come, dear, let's go see your daddy." She said. The two walked away, with the foal behind its mother, trying to find the nursing spot. "Congrats!" Vaat yelled. No response, since it was likely the mare was out of distance. Vaat felt a little sad; this might not happen to her. Just maybe..one day.. Vaat started walking again, particularly looking for Injaern. It wasn't long before she heard the sound of thundering hooves not far behind her. Replies:
