Thranduil had not started out in life wanting it to be easy. He had been wild, free, and a Lagoonie at heart. He had wanted nothing more than to be like his sire and the other stallions running around the Lagoon. Only his mother had been the voice or reason trying to steer him away from such a life. His sweet, sweet, mother that he had never listened to.
Sometimes he wonders if she was still alive. Hopefully she was happy whoever she was now. Watching Nahawi he knew that he should make the trip out to visit her. Maybe he had even more siblings he knew nothing about aside from Warg. Nahawi's voice breaks the silence. It was not what he wanted to hear, but I guess he couldn't blame the old man.
Nahawi had always been a stubborn one anyway.
"Pan always liked you." He says under his breath. Maybe she hadn't chosen him or became a lover, but she has always been on his side. Even as he had tried to get her to hate Nahawi she had never believed his lies. Nahawi speaks again to answer his comment about the Lagoon. His pale head nods slowly. Leaving had been something he was working on for awhile now. Pan had even tried to escape after Oropher was born, but it had failed.
Of course Nahawi might not have realized that way back then Thranduil had been cut throat. Maybe not to the level of Garmr, but he was well on his way before Pan came into his life. She had changed everything.
He does not continue to argue with the dying man. Thranduil might not agree with everything he just said, but getting rid of Garmr was something that needs to happen. If no one else stepped up to the plate he may have to himself. Though that would out his ties even more in the Lagoon than he wanted.
"Rest easy Nahawi. We may have been enemies, but I understand what made you leave. The Lagoon had been my home and my brothers my family until I was led to Pandemonium. It was you that led me to her and I am eternally grateful." He wasn't sure ifnthe red stallion was listening at this point, but he had to say his peace. Nahawi had not been the horse he planned on running into tonight, but life had given him a new opportunity for peace.
"I love her and I will do what I must to take care of her." His voice trails off as he turns to leave the dieing stallion alone with his bones. Something causes him to stop after a few steps. Green eyes look back to see Nahawi no longer moving.
