In this decisive runoff, the stakes couldn’t be higher for our pensions, our union, and our future. Tony Martin—Phony Tony or Phony Martin—has a long, troubling record of leadership failures that directly threaten what we’ve earned through years of service.
The pension disputes tell the story clearest: chronic delays in retroactive payments (“retro”) that leave owed funds stuck, not reaching deferred compensation accounts despite repeated promises and deadlines missed by months. These aren’t one-offs—they stem from questionable pension board decisions, mishandled allocations, bureaucratic roadblocks, and unresolved issues that keep cycling back without real fixes or accountability.
Layer on the broader financial red flags: overspending on unnecessary items (like excessive office remodeling), questionable handling of dues and funds, and recurring formal charges against him for misconduct—often tied to pension oversight and fiscal irresponsibility. These patterns create hardship for retirees, erode fund integrity, and divide us instead of delivering strong, transparent advocacy for every member’s benefits.
Martin’s involvement has fueled distrust, weak representation, and a sense that insiders come first while rank-and-file firefighters pay the price. We can’t keep tolerating this cycle of delays, disputes, and drama.
Retirees vote reliably and in force—if active members don’t show up overwhelmingly now, their ballots will hand Martin another term by default. That’s the harsh reality of this runoff.
