On February 17th, 2026, Iran partially closed the Strait of Hormuz — the single most important oil chokepoint on earth. 20 million barrels of oil flow through that 21-mile-wide channel every single day. That is 20 percent of all the world's seaborne oil supply. And Iran shut part of it down while simultaneously sitting in nuclear negotiations with the United States in Geneva.
