Re: Coffee. Unlike homebrewing, I find that you can have success right from the start with roasting. Not that you've mastered it my any means, but you can very quickly get to > $1/oz quality (what you get in a store) with great beans at a discount. Because there is such a strong community, you can just take builds from the internet and either source all of the parts and build your own cabinets with pretty basic woodworking skills or even buy kits online that come with pre-cut MDF or ply panels you just glue up.
The caveat here is that this is for nice bookshelf or larger speakers, where a solid cabinet with thick walls is what you want. If you were trying to make a little bluetooth smart speaker, there are lots of tricks of the trade there to get big sound out of a small speaker that aren't going to be accessible to a hobbyist.
The other issue is, after you make a couple pair, then you're like, ok, I guess I don't need anymore speakers. Replies:
