GUIDELINES
common sense, really
i. the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
ii. anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
iii. adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
iv. the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
v. the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
whispers in the tall grass » lileas

The borderlands were an easy, rolling hill-country, littered with little brooks and scattered woods. It made for a pleasant walk for the painted stallion as he surveyed his home. Warmth from the late spring sun, high overhead, spread through his limbs as the stallion walked, settling into a comfortable, rhythmic stride. Lir's hazel eyes ranged over each portion of the landscape as he made his way through the borderlands. Each inch was being recommitted to memory after long, cold months away.

It was only due to good luck that the Prairie had not been raided-- or worse-- taken from him these last few seasons while he sojourned off the island chain. Driven by his sense of duty to family, the painted male had finally given in to the idea of going out and searching for his younger sister Vervain and her daughter, his niece Velaris. At long last, Lir had a stroke of luck.. and he'd told no one yet of the mare who had finally returned to the Prairie with him.

Movement drew the sable male's gaze from a small stand of willow saplings toward a field of late-blooming goldenrod. The yellow blossoms swayed atop gangly green stalks, which parted in the wake of an approaching figure. A few moments passed with focused observation upon the bay shape before finally Lir recognized them. He called out to the young mare with an easy laugh covering most of the relief in his voice: "Lileas! Hello!"
