Memories Can Be So Fleeting (birthing post) Posted on June 6, 2026 at 08:27:26 PM by Teagan
It hadn’t been long after she’d sent her son off before Teagan felt the contractions of labour. A little more experienced now than she was last time she quietly delivered the healthy colt, with a pure black pelt like his father, who she thought was smaller than Ash was when he was born, that probably meant he was going to grow to be smaller than his big brother.
She had dutifully cleaned him off and got him onto his feet to nurse, making sure everything with ok with her little boy.
Unsure where her love was, he did after all have a herd and territory to protect, she had tucked herself and her newborn into a small patch of trees between sand dunes that offer them protection from the elements as well as from prying eyes. Several hours later exhaustion had finally forced her to rest and sleep. Led down she had tucked the young colt close to her body, placing her head over the sleeping foals back before closing her eyes, allowing herself to drift into a light sleep, though still keeping herself alert to awake to sounds around her.
The young colt who she had called Zagon hadn’t made a peep, even at this young of an age he seemed different to his brother. The midnight colt already had a stare that could go right through you as she imagine when he was older him being a bit like his father. Where as Ash was talkative, brash and often acted before thinking she could already see Zagon was very different to their other son.
Resting as she was with her head still protectively over the young foal, her ears twitched, catching sound as her eyes opened, watchful and weary as her head lifted slightly, not disturbing the sleeping newborn or making a move to stand yet, inhaling as she tried to catch a scent on the breeze that might help her understand what had pulled her from sleep.
