MC tried a new approach/experiment by training college athletes (who never played Jai Alai prior to this) to learn the game. I think Stu would be the first to tell you there was never an expectation that the first couple of seasons of Magic City would be incredible top tier playing. Was it brutal...at times yes...mainly for those patrons who were only there for the gambling aspect. On the other hand, I as well as quite a few of my friends enjoyed watching the roster improve day by day, as it made for an interesting experience.
Scott Savin has to be commended for all his support in keeping Jai Alai alive in the US. He continued to invest in the game as well as providing a year round living for the players...all while losing money on a dying sport. Behind the scenes, Stu, Arra and a number of others put in a lot of time and effort to train the newbies.
Not sure if World Jai Alai League is making a profit yet, but they definitely have quite a few world class players now that provide exciting action on the court. Wishing WJAL great success now and in the future. Replies:
