i want to be the spark in your eyes | nicodemus/rhonin Posted on July 12, 2026 at 07:25:21 PM by Rhoxane
Autumn had descended quickly upon Tinuvel. It felt like like mere days from the last moment she remembered basking in the heat of the afternoon. Now, the needles and pines of the Inlet glistened in the morning, thoroughly soaked after last night's thunderstorm. Rhoxane admired the trees and their needles with a warm glance as she walked by. So different were things here from the vast , arid expanse of Salem. How miraculous that such things varied across the islands.
It taken time for the golden champagne mare to adjust to life on the alpine slopes of the Inlet. Much of the time in her young life had been spent running, dodging the unknown rulers of the southern isle whilst learning as much about them from word of mouth among the nomads-- few though there might be. It was.. a refreshing challenge to find a place for herself amongst the members of Nicodemus' herd. More refreshing than the new avenues of social life though was the gentle, but steady attention from the calico stallion himself.
Admittedly, Rhoxane had been hesitant with him. Handsome though he was, the golden mare had been charmed by and smitten with a stallion before, only to be left behind without a word. Nicodemus was not like Sakir in the slightest.. which pleased her greatly. Nicoo did not rush her, never prodded or asked for more than she allowed him. He only seemed to drink in the ever increasing sight of her smile and the sound of her laughter. Rhoxane couldn't place the moment when her heart had first begun to tumble, and yet, when she realized it had, she felt no urge to hinder it.
The bright hazel of her eyes swept over the hillside as the gilded shape of her become more removed from the tangle of the upper slopes. Upon not seeing the golden tones of his dunskin pelt, Rhoxane turned her gaze back to her son-- their son, she might have beamed. Rhonin: he was as run through with gold as either one of his parents and had some painted markings, not unlike his father. She adored the little colt and, hough they were safe here in the Inlet, it was difficult for her to let him out of her sight... unless he was with Nico or her older son Rhodius-- who also showed the palomino colt great affection.
Rhoxane nosed the boy's neck lovingly. With a soft smile, she stretched her head out toward the open hillock. "Come, my love." They would be able to see other members of the herd dotting the landscape with ease from here. The valley would stretch down and away from them toward the distant sea. It was beautiful.. and a thought of her mother cast a passing cloud over her features as the mare led her son further out into the swaying grass.
