Don't know the man nor the story that goes with him. What I do know is that there is no automatic honoring of someone who is retiring. It should be based on how that individual served and how they treated others - especially those below them. Maybe he was a super-brother and maybe he was a stroke. But you reap what you sow - not what others who aren't involved think you have coming to you just because you have 40 years on the job.
