During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

The young pup opened one eye and looked out at Hope. Or at least, looked in her general direction. The poor thing was not only lost, alone, and scared, but he was blind as well. That might explain why he was lost, although pups had a tendency to wander even when told not to.

He stuttered an answer back in reply, and Hope couldn't help but wonder what it was like not to be able to see. The scents and general feel of someone else was all you had to go on. No subtle expressions to learn by, only the vocal sounds to tell you how someone else was feeling.

There was a surge of anger as well when she saw him. That his mother would have left him, or had not paid enough attention to him was unreal. Yet she might have done the same, to abandon a pup that would probably not make it far in life. It was a wonder that bears, foxes or coyotes hadn't already come across him and taken him from this life.

"Hey, you're okay. Silence and I won't hurt you."

A look back to her brother revealed a grim faced one. He saw the eye, had understood and calculated that the pup would probably not live long. Especially if he were left alone with no one to take care of him. The tip of Hope's tail lifted a bit, Silence turned his muzzle and bared his teeth a little for a brief moment. Hope turned away from him again. Silence did not approve of taking in the pup, Hope thought he was being unreasonable.

"You have any friends or family we can take you to?"

A compromise perhaps, not to leave the pup stranded there, but not to keep him and look after him. Unless of course there was no one else he could go back to. That was something all too common these days, something that Silence and Hope had experienced themselves. Only they had been a bit older and could at least fend for themselves by that point.

The siblings would probably be good parents, though neither would admit to it. Silence, stoic, solid Silence was a softy at heart. Atae had seen through him, and in time any pup would begin to see that he wasn't as cold as he put himself out to be. Not a great one to tell stories or even really communicate, he would at least always be there as a listener and protector. Hope was strict but fair. In the end, when she died her one regret would be not having a litter of her own. As every wolf has the natural instinct to live and hunt and mate, so does Hope. Yet so long alone, and because of the past circumstances she wasn't sure she could ever do it.

Now faced with this young one and met with conflicting emotions came the siblings truer faces. Silence wanted rid of it, as he seemed to always run from the real life problems. Hope was torn between loyalty and mothering instinct, wanting to make sure he had a good home before letting him out of her sight. Then she could breathe easier knowing that they had not left him to die.
