The air is heavy as you make your way through unknown territory, as you pause to sniff the air a drop of rain falls onto your nose. It is soon followed by another and another and soon the rain is pelting down in sheets, soaking you to the bone. The clouds are an angry purple and the menacing drumming of thunder rolls over the sky. Squinting your eyes against the blinding water you find yourself at the edge of a large, dark pine forest. You are too desperate for shelter to notice the scents that mark the border and plunge in, and nearly into the chilly stream that runs through the territory. You veer away and as you are shaking the water out of your fur you notice a large pair of icy blue shards gazing at you. The storm has passed now and beams of sunlight filter through the thick canopy of pines, illuminating a massive male wolf not three feet away from where you stand.

His pelt looks like a bad patchwork job of black and white and beneath them you see large, hard bands of steely muscle and you know this is a warrior for his torso is marred with many battle scars. His banner curls over his back and his lips are drawn, exposing sharp ivory daggers. When he speaks his voice is deep and dominant, like the thunder you so recently heard.

"Wolf, you have found yourself in the terra of the Andere Seite Pack. I am Eclipse, king of this land."

It is only then that you notice another pair of lanterns gleaming in the penumbra and a dark-pelted fae slinks out into the clearing to stand next to the king, her own banner waves and her green and blue eyes bore into you. She is the same size as most males and a crisscrossing pattern of scars show that she too can take care of herself. Her voice is cold and has a snake-like sound to it yet you can see they are both fair rulers.

"And I am Nephthys, queen of Andere. We don’t care much for strangers so you must make your choice, Submit to us now or flee our lands and never return. If you fail to do either you will have little time left to regret it."

The formidable pair pierces you with their gaze and you feel as if all your secrets spill out before them. You are left with a decision now. Will you submit and take refuge in this dark forest or will you flee and never know what secrets these trees hide? Make haste, you can see that the pair grow tired of waiting.

THE FEMME NODDED intently as her somewhat far off sister came up with the name to match the one that she had considered for a moment. Being away from the pack so long had done her no good, obviously, but that was of little importance right then. With it decided, and affirmed once more by Nephthys that Xavior was who to call, the gray alphess was straight to it. Though her feral yellow eyes shifted down to see her nephew still curled up by her sister’s stomach, it seemed that Eclipse’s leaving had torn a new one into Nephthys. Hell, if Kimani ever saw the male again, she would rearrange his features so much that not even her sister would be able to identify him. After turning slightly away from her broken, still fiery sister, the female monarch raised her skull towards the gray sky. It was lightly snowing, and stray flakes fell onto her face every few seconds or so. Forming her mouth into the proper shape, she inhaled a great breath down deep into her lungs, and then let out a powerful call. It was an obviously urgent message, and told all listeners that she did not want all the pack to come … just for Xavior. She was summoning him for urgent business, and that was all she let out with the message. No need for too many details. It lasted nearly three fourths of a minute before it began dying down, and finally faded about thirty seconds later than that.

LOOKING BACK TOWARDS the delta pair, she noticed that his bleeding had barely slowed, if at all. Even with Firestorm licking the wounds, it seemed like it would take a while before the gashes would heal. And loss of blood, that much blood, especially, was nothing to scoff at. In fact, the aroma of blood in that clearing could nearly choke a wolf … and one that was sick to their stomach easy enough might begin to feel dizzy from the suffocating fragrance that consumed the clearing. Even the area around the clearing was heavy with the scent. It may be alluring to some creatures, sickening to others … but to Kimani it was nothing new. It was strong, she certainly had to admit that … but nothing that would phase her. Though she also had to admit it would be much easier if it were not spilt from one of the most loyal warriors of current Andere Seite. And his mate, also among them, would obviously be suffering so much if … if well …

”NO! … Fucking no …

THE FIRST ‘NO’ had simply been a thought, but the last couple words had growled beneath her breath. She was not going to let that happen. Beowulf, she was already set, would make it through. For a half a second … maybe an entire slow motion, dragged out second, her hearing zoned in on the raspy, barely audible breaths of the fallen male. It was almost painful to listen to. She glanced for a moment, sadly at Firestorm, who was still intently giving attention to Beowulf. Turning back around, Kimani noticed her sister was … well, was there really any word to fit her sister? Just not herself … the insane look that sparked in both their eyes was somehow different in Nephthys’ mismatched pair. Being so extra alert, because of the cat attack and everything, as soon as the scent of the damn beast hit her nostrils once more, a vicious snarl filled her throat, and she turned with a fiery look in her yellow eyes towards the approaching smell. But also … there was someone else approaching from the same way … a someone else who made her heart skip a beat, and made her joyous and worried and angry all at the same time. Why angry, she was not sure, but she definitely was.

WHEN HER EYES first caught movement, and heard the rustling of bushes, her eyes also detected a sandy color that began emerging through. Kimani crouched slightly, expecting a battle to now happen between herself and this cat –since she would never let anyone else in the pack try- though she was almost disappointed to see that someone else had taken care of the damn animal. And really, she was not greatly comfortable with Plague having taken on the lynx either … and it seemed he did receive some injuries from it. The ebony beast of wolf himself placed his trophy at the edge of the clearing, and under different circumstances she might have run up and tackled him or something. But right then she needed her space, she had to have room to think. The king moved past her, she figured to inspect Beowulf and Firestorm, as she simply remained facing her sister. She then realized that Nephthys did not know about what had happened between the challenger and herself.

He’s with me …

KIMANI GESTURED TOWARDS Plague with her skull slightly. Hell, her sister should know all about taking home a challenger and making him king, though it was not something she would mention.

”Firestorm, keep him warm until Xavior gets here.”

HER EARS SWIVELED back towards his deep, commanding voice. But most of her attention still remained on the dark pelted femme in front of her. There was just something that worried her about Nephthys’ behavior, between the strange look in the eyes and now being off into space so much. Plague came up beside her, nuzzling her stiff body. She was so tense … and not even her mate nuzzling her would relax her now. Honestly, Kimani almost felt bad about not returning the nuzzle, but at the same time it was not like she was choosing to be so tense.

”I would clean her wounds Kimani, I know the basics of healing, but I don’t think it is the best time to introduce me.”

THE GREY FEMME finally turned her skull towards the black male, a brow quirked upward.

… and I hope you wouldn’t be expecting me to save you when she tears you up to pieces. Boy, as much as I love you, don’t be stupid.

AS MUCH AS it had been said sarcastically, she was serious. Right then, if he started licking Nephthys’ wounds, and Nephthys through a fit, Kimani would stand back and let him be served. Chances were most likely that he would be about as injured as if he had been attacked by a hunting lynx without having any sort of advantage … so not killed, but pretty close. Though to be honest, Kimani doubted that her sister would actually attack another wolf with Zanzibar being so close to where the fight would be. Plague approached, remaining a few yards away for a little safety room. It was silent, mostly, and it seemed rather awkward for Kimani … too awkward for their first meeting, anyhow.

Nephthys, this is Plague, my … mate.

THE WORD ‘MATE’ came out slightly awkwardly. She just was not used to calling anyone that … not that it was a bad thing.

Plague, this is my sister, Nephthys.

WHEN PLAGUE WAS finished looking for … whatever he had been looking for, he turned back around and started walking towards the deltas once more. She watched him lie besides Beowulf, and then begin helping Firestorm to clean the many wounds that tattooed the male’s body. She would not have been able to lay down for anything right then … she had to be walking, moving. And so, Kimani began pacing back and forth through the bloody clearing, eventually making a somewhat ring shaped figure in the snow. Once Xavior arrived, they would at least know something more than what they could see.
