A child… Deor loosened his fingers from the dull blade, he did not release because he knew the body of a young child might be deceiving but still extremely dangerous. He had heard stories of lone children wondering the dark forests, using their stealth, innocence to deceive their pray, then in a single moment attacking like a lioness sinking her crowns into the soft flesh of her victim. Deor didn’t think the child would do anything extreme, but he was also taught to see the good in people.

Deor looked round the forest, there were no visible signs of anyone else but it was highly unlikely that he was alone. As Deor gazed through the dark pit of trees he answered, “Lost…. No. I’m not going to kill you, you’re just a boy” There was a single twig that broke in the distance; it could have just been a squirrel, or a fox… Deor gripped his dull dagger and slid it out from pocket. “did you hear that? Is someone following you boy?”

As the two young men stood in the wooded path the wind twisted and danced around them. It enjoyed intertwining around their bodies, stealing all the heat from their poorly insulated human bodies. Laughing as it left them with a chill. It was the elements of earth that had all control of life in the end. Destruction will be under its reign.
